Jamie's 450KM for Mental Health
September is Suicide Prevention Month, with World Suicide Prevention Day on 10 September.
In 2024, 3,326 people died by suicide in Australia, around 9 people every day. Back home in Ireland, there were 341 deaths by suicide in 2024.
Mental health and suicide are things that have affected a lot of people, whether it’s a family member, a mate or someone you know. You never really know what someone might be dealing with behind the scenes.
Throughout September, I’m going to run 15km every day, 450km across the month, to raise money for Lifeline and support the work they do around mental health and suicide prevention.
If it encourages even one person to start a conversation, check in on a mate, or simply ask someone how they’re doing, it’ll be worth every kilometre.
